What are Apple Pencils made from?

Each Apple Pencil is individually handcrafted from pruned branches of genuine apple trees (such as Winesap and heirloom apple varieties). The wood is hand-harvested sustainably after seasonal orchard pruning, naturally dried, and fitted with high-quality writing and coloring cores.

What type of graphite or lead is used inside the twig pencils?

Our pencils feature solid, artist-grade non-toxic graphite and vibrant colored cores. Each core is securely centered and inserted into the hand-drilled apple branch to ensure smooth writing, drawing, and sketching.

How do you sharpen handcrafted twig pencils?

Because twig pencils retain their natural, rustic bark and organic branch shape, we recommend using a standard utility knife, craft whittling knife, or a wide-diameter handheld pencil sharpener to carefully expose the graphite point.

Are living trees harmed in making these twig pencils?

No living trees are cut down or harmed. All apple wood is reclaimed from the essential annual pruning process of fruit-bearing apple orchards, making them an eco-friendly, sustainable, and zero-waste stationery choice.

Who creates and designs the Apple Pencils?

Hello...I am h.m. Peavy.

I grew up in the Midwest, lived in Hawaii for nearly 40 years, and currently make my home in Southern California. I love creating artworks, home renovations, cycling, organic gardening, collecting vintage art and crafts, and upcycling. I own Re-psychles Vintage Shop and Art Gallery in Palm Springs, CA.
